First Accounts Program

As of  July 1, 2006, our Financial Literacy Program will no longer be a separate program, but will be a part of our tax assistance services.

While the need for strong financial literacy programming for families, children and individuals remains high, such programming requires multi-year funding commitments which, quite frankly, are unavailable at this time.

As much as possible, we will continue to help our low-income households acquire those personal finance skills necessary to improve their long-term economic condition.

We will do this by continuing to offer information on financial literacy resources and by providing opportunities to open bank accounts and to direct deposit refunds at our tax assistance locations in southeast Michigan. This is possible thanks to our partnerships with financial institutions and other organizations.
